One of the major delights of Argyll’s Secret Coast is the plentiful natural larder from land and sea. The clear waters of Loch Fyne provide some of the finest seafood in the world, often caught and served on the same day in a superb choice of hotels and restaurants and cafes in the area.

The finest game and venison is provided from the estates in Argyll and from the farms there is lamb, beef, poultry, vegetables and fruit in season.

If you crave the idea of a traditional grocer, access to buying real food and knowing where it came from, Argyll’s Secret Coast is the place for you. Traditional village shops such as the award-winning Duncan’s Village Store in Kames cater for all your grocery needs, with much of it provided from local producers and the kind of personal service you won’t believe still exists.

The Colintraive Village Shop and Post Office is another similar gem, with a speciality of homemade bread and cakes and always willing to open up outside normal hours.

Catch the monthly Farmers Market in Kames if you can, which is a feast for all the senses and has a welcoming and convivial atmosphere for locals and visitors alike. There are some great picnic spots on Argyll’s secret coast to eat all the wonderful local food you have purchased!
