Why not spend New Year on Argyll’s Secret Coast? There’s loads going on, from day-time family events to celebration dinners and ceilidhs. Make it a Hogmanay to remember on Argyll’s Secret Coast. Here are 10 ways to celebrate Hogmanay on Argyll’s Secret Coast!

1. Walk into any of the hotel pubs and bars on Argyll’s Secret Coast on New Year’s Eve and you can expect a friendly welcome and a great night with plenty of west coast bonhomie. The Kames Hotel is always a good spot to see in the New Year. Dinner for New Year’s Eve is fully booked, but head to the bar for plenty of Hogmanay fun. There will be a piper and fireworks at midnight.

2. Enjoy a fabulous New Year’s Eve Dinner at Botanica in the heart Tighnabruaich. Tuck into a delicious set menu for £65 per person, featuring lots of local produce, including oak-smoked Gigha Halibut, local seafood and Isle of Bute venison. Call 01700 811186 to book.

3. Or how about heading over to The Oystercatcher at Otter Ferry? It will be open from 5pm on the 31st with a buffet dinner from 7pm - 9pm (£12 per head) and a local DJ will be playing all night.

4. What better way to start the New Year than an icy plunge into the Kyles of Bute? The en-masse New Year's Day Dip takes place on the beach in front of the Kames Hotel at 1pm. You can warm up in the Kames Hotel afterwards with drinks and soup (free for the dippers!).

5. If all the festivities have left you hankering for some fresh air and exercise, then nothing beats a good walk on New Year’s Day. There are plenty of great routes to choose from on Argyll’s Secret Coast, from forest rambles to coastal strolls. Take a look at our online walking guides for inspiration.

6. Fancy a dance with all the family? Portavadie is putting on a family disco on New Year’s Day from 3 to 4.30pm in the Barclay Suite. It’s free and open to residents and non-residents.

7. The Royal an Lochan puts on its annual New Year’s Day firework show on the beach at 6pm. Enjoy a mulled wine and watch the display over the Kyles of Bute.

8. Pit your wits against the best at Portavadie’s Family Quiz on New Year’s Day. It’s free to enter and there will be some great prizes to win. It starts at 8pm in The Marquee. Everyone is welcome.

9. The Oystercatcher is open from 3pm on New Year's Day with food from 6 to 7.30pm. The team is also re-instating the annual Otter Ferry New Year’s Day Quiz which starts at 8pm.

10. And if you’re still standing the shinty team's legendary New Year's Day Dance in the Kames Hall will keep you dancing into the wee hours.
